This just came to my attention, and it's shocking.
We have the hardest economic times in recent history, and guess
which businesses have the Fullest parking lots? And I mean ,overflowing? It's the Casinos! A closer look at the customers,
one of which, by the way, came to see me for help, reveals that these are Not affluent people, who you'd think, can afford to gamble. No, they are mostly the opposite. And not short of money only Because they gamble. No, these , for the largest part, are people out of work, with unemployment benefits long gone, or folks who just can't find a job that pays enough to live on. These are people of all ages, all denominations, often desperately hoping to make more out of what little they have. And sometimes they do. But, according to my client, that's where it becomes tricky. When someone gets lucky once, they almost always think it's going to happen again. And many try and fail and succeed and fail twice and so on. This is what happened to this lady. Desperation and hope are so close together. And then there's a point when there is no more money. What to do then about gas, school lunch, the mortgage and the telephone? It happens too fast for many to be able to deal with it. The tragic part though is, that these are Not people that want to live recklessly, with no regard for family and responsibility. These are people that have been 'thrown out of the water' , that see no better possibilities of making enough.
Your neighbors, perhaps, who are running out of options.
I know my client has, and so I offered to put up this call for donations. Perhaps it will brng enough for her to survive this crisis.

There are many kinds of circumstances at any turn in each person's life, when another's kindness and generosity can restore our belief in the general goodness of Life. And what goes around ALWAYS comes around. Any even the smallest show of empathy will be appreciated.

The Stuff We Put in Our Mouths!

 

If you know me, you know I always rant about all the 'plastic' foods some people call normal groceries.
Friends have criticized me:) for not buying certain things for my kid and , funniest of all, for not knowing how the drive through at the local MC D's works.


Well, for those wondering what's the big deal, natural versus artificial 'processed' food,
here is some good info. Short and to the point.
If we think about the biggest health problems, like Asthma and  Heart Desease and school problems, I'm thinking of ADHD and also of the all to common Inactivity- Problem, perhaps it would make sense to be more careful about what we take home from the supermarket.
Many recommended foods, like cold- pressed organic oils, The all natural sweetener STEVIA, a pure plant extract, organic nuts and seeds etc. can be mail ordered from Swansons Health Products without breaking the budget.  I've been doing it for years.

No More Artificial Sweeteners!
 For years I've been hearing that those DIET sodas etc. are bad for you.
But what matter, if at least they save us from getting fat, right? Wrong, and here is why:

Dr. K. Steven Whiting: Hello, I’m Dr. Whiting. And today I want to take a few minutes of your time to talk about some of the most common health and diet myths. You see, there’s a lot of things that we have come to believe about health and diet that are not exactly true. In fact, the only reason that we believe in these things is because the myth, or the story, has been repeated over and over again—such as cholesterol and its role in heart disease, diabetes management and several others. So, let’s take a look at some of these quickly and if you find some of these subjects interesting, or if they are of concern to you, I would suggest you check out my other videos in this series on these specific subjects where we talk about them in a little bit more detail.
Artificial sweeteners, that’s another myth. We believe that artificial sweeteners can’t make us fat because they don’t contain any calories, so we can have all we want. And this, again, is untrue because artificial sweeteners tend to trick the brain into believing we’re eating real sugar at which point the body produces a hormone called insulin, lowers blood sugar, this stimulates appetite and it makes us hungry all the time. I have been preaching about the dangers of artificial sweeteners for many years—probably 20 years now—and just recently there were two clinical studies that finally have proven that people who consume high amounts of artificial sweeteners, especially on an empty stomach, tend to gain weight and have a harder time to lose weight.

If you’re a diabetic, this particular area’s of interest to you. And we’re not saying never use artificial sweeteners. We’re saying A) use them in moderation and B) always use them in conjunction with food. Never consume them on an empty stomach. When we talk about diabetes, we’re talking about a situation where we are told, or led to believe by medicine, that once you are a diabetic, you’re a diabetic for life and there’s actually no way to eliminate the problem. This, again, is a myth. It’s untrue. Many type II diabetics have been able to walk away from their illness completely and control it as if they had no illness at all, through a combination of diet, exercise and the right nutrients. If you have diabetes, I’m telling you, you have a great chance of improving or even eliminating your diabetic problem. Check my video out on diabetes for more information.
 
Makes you think, doesn't it? I wonder how many of us do what I always did and try to compensate for the unhealthy "help" to our waist line -and other unhealthy habits- by taking multi vitamins and supplements for our particular problem areas. That's fine, I think. But what about this official and FDA approved "help", that is actually defeating it's own purpose?
There are natural alternatives, like extract of Stevia, the Sweet Herb. No adverse effects, no calories, no Worries! And you'll find it here at a lower price than Splenda at the store! I tried their Stevia Extract in individual Packets and it actually tastes better than any of the artificials.

I was just reading this in 'Total Health Breakthroughs':

"The next time you hear some nay-saying doctor claiming that there is no evidence that vitamins actually do anything, show him this:

A new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that multivitamins can keep you younger, longer. The study found that those who took a multivitamin daily had 5.1 percent longer telomeres than those who didn't.

Telomeres are the key to aging. And it's not just your lifespan that's affected... Short telomeres dramatically boost your risk of serious diseases. One study of 60- to 75-year-olds showed that those with short telomeres had a 300% higher death rate from heart disease and an 800% higher death rate from infectious diseases."

So here is one more reason to just go ahead and do this one simple thing: take that vitamin every morning!
If we do something just for ourselves, even a little thing like that, we feel better already anyway. And even if we eat junk sometimes, I'm sure junk with all the necessary vitamins and nutrients combined is better than junk alone!

It doesn't have to break the budget, either. You can get all the best brand name products or just a simple all natural Multi Vitamin for less than supermarket prices here. All Natural -NOT synthetic - is the key. Afterall our bodies are  natural , for the most parts, anyway :)  They are much more likely to know what to do with Natural Supplements than with 'plastic', don't you think?

 It's been awhile since I wrote from this page. Been busy with all kinds of other stuff.
My son tells me there isn't anything fun on my site and that I should add some music or something...

TIME FLIES- MASTER MIND GROUP
 
Time flies, and now we do have a hurricane "upon" us. Hope Ike will stay far away.
That reminds me to seriously think about all the stuff I want to do. Impending crisis does that to me-You, too?
A while ago I participated in a Master Mind Group. We read and implemented, to the best of our ability,
Napoleon Hill's 'Think And Grow Rich'.  After about half a year of weekly dicussions we were through the book
and all of the members went their separate ways, perhaps some with a hint of regret.
I can't help but wonder how many miss the support of the group? I know I do. I also know that we barely scratched the surface
of all this book can mean. Consequently, I've been thinking of starting my own MasterMind Group. Same principle, looser format,
main focus on Enjoyment. It is my opinion that there can be no success, no 'riches' without enjoying the way that leads us there.
Being miserable along the way just isn't very motivating. Making others miserable can't make us feel very good about ourselves.
The Pursuit of Happiness is our constitutional right. Now help me bring it all together!

If you’ve ever been stuck in a rut of inertia before, you probably know the sense of helpless futility that takes over your life.  You want your life to change, but you feel powerless to do anything about it yourself.  You may find yourself constantly making plans to improve your life, but never quite getting around to taking action because it seems so intimidating.
Though taking action can intimidate and frighten you, it can also empower you!  If you learn to use it effectively, it can provide the fuel to keep you moving forward toward more fulfilling life circumstances.  When you do this, you realize that there was never anything to fear in the first place, and you’ll never get stuck again!
Below are three simple steps that show you how to get started:
1) First, be sure you understand that your life is the way it is right now because of your hesitation in taking action!  This is important, because you’ll understand the importance of moving forward no matter how anxious it makes you feel at first.
Then, decide on one action to take to get the ball rolling.  Think about your life right now, and ask yourself which situations you want to change first.  You might choose your career, relationships, health, financial situation, or anything else that makes you feel powerless and stuck.  Then think about one simple action you can take to inspire some positive change.  It doesn’t have to be a huge action, just SOMETHING to start building momentum.
2) Once you’ve decided on your action step, you’ll have to push yourself to take it no matter what!  This may seem incredibly difficult or even scary, but remember that most often the things you fear are not going to happen.  In fact, you may not even have a clear reason for feeling scared – you’re just afraid of the “unknown”.  Give yourself a pep talk or push yourself in any way you have to in order to move forward at least a little bit.  After you take that first step, be sure to let go of any expectations of the things that will happen because of it, and allow yourself to feel great simply because you did something about it!
3) Repeat with the same step, and/or others.  Once you’ve taken one step forward, you’ll need to keep pushing yourself to take others.  Consider this:  Even if you take a hundred small steps in a month, you’ll be putting forth positive effort to make changes in your life, which cannot help but bring about better circumstances!
The good news is that taking action quickly begins to build momentum.  Just as chronic non-action can create a cycle of negativity and stagnation over time, being proactive can create a positive cycle that continues to grow!  It gets easier the more you do it, which eventually makes it seem almost effortless – and you continue to empower and strengthen yourself with every step you take.
